We need to carefully consider how we, as Ratepayers wish to be represented.
If you are considering running in one of the seven divisions, you must complete a Registration of Notice of Intent to become a Candidate. This must take place prior to accepting funds or using for the purpose of campaigning.
The following people have Registered their intent to run in the October 16th election.
Div 3 Current councillor Wayne Borle
Div 4 Daryl Friesen
Div 4 Michel Hindes
Div 6 Current Councillor Ross Bohnet
Div 7 Current Councillor Lloyd Giebelhaus There are additional folk that have declared to LSARA their intent to run such as George Vaughan in Division 3.
Current Council and Administration have made numerous decisions that have affected the future of all the Ratepayers in this County without taking into account the wishes or recommendations of the Ratepayers.
Our debt is climbing at a County level to unprecedented levels with negligible growth in population to support the expenditures. The services we are paying for have decreased due to funding other areas such as the Administration building, the East end building that also required additional borrowing. This was primarily an attempt to appease the Ratepayers on the East end. The logic appeared to be that no one could have anything to say if the East end had one as well.
There again, we paid too much money for an old building that requires many upgrades. This Administration building and the short term borrowing that Administration and council enacted will bleed all our MSI funding that is not guaranteed for the next five years.
We also have no economic development to assist with the funds required to provide adequate services to the County Residents.
