LSAC Municipal Election 2017 Candidate Forums

LSAC Municipal Election 2017

Candidate Forums

A little information for everyone on what you can expect at the Candidates Forums that are being held in Darwell co sponsored by DDRA on the 26th at 7 pm in the Hall for Divisions 4, 5, 6 and 7 and in Onoway on the 28th for Divisions 1, 2 and 3 in the Heritage center ( the old elementary gym) also at 7 pm.

Starting with a brief opening address introducing the Lac Ste. Anne 2017 Municipal Forum the floor will then be turned over to the Forum Moderators. Both of the Forums have moderators that will be facilitating the Forums. Terry Slemko will be moderating the Darwell Forum and Dale Johnson will be moderating the Onoway Forum.

All candidates from all Seven Divisions have been invited whether they are incumbents or new challengers, along with the School Board candidates that are running for the Onoway area only as the other division was acclaimed.

The school board candidates will only be part of the introduction as the other portions of the Forum are not relevant to them. It is an opportunity for them also to introduce themselves.

These Forums are the opportunity for each Candidate of the Lac Ste. County 2017 Municipal Election to address the Ratepayers and provide a bit of information about themselves as well as the answer any questions the public may have in order to make an Informed Vote

We anticipate both the Candidates and the Public will appreciate this event format as it will be Positive and a Fair Platform to the Candidates and most importantly, an Informative Opportunity for all who choose to attend.

The only losers of these forums will be those who choose "NOT" to attend.

The following will be the Forums Agenda.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Forum begins at 7:00 p.m.

Welcome
  • Candidates to introduce themselves and to speak about their platform. This is usually 2–3 minutes. Maximum allowed will be 6 minutes.
  • Three questions from the Moderator will be asked after which each candidate will have 1-2 minutes to respond.
  • After all candidates have responded to the questions, there will be an open floor Q&A.
8:45 p.m. - Candidates will be provided 1 minute for a closing summary.

Closing of the forum 8:55 p.m.
Note that the audience is welcome to speak with the candidates further should they wish to do so.

The floor will be opened for questions from the Ratepayers. You will be able to choose a specific Candidate to answer your question. All of the forum activities outside of the actual opening and closing will be managed by the moderators so there is a fair playing field for everyone. Equal opportunity.

In the coming days, we will provide more information with respect to the forums and we would like you all to take this time to think about what kinds of questions you may wish to ask of the LSAC Candidates. LSARA has received a number of concerns over the last year and we encourage your participation in this forum.

This is first that a citizens group has taken this step and it is important that everyone understands this is "YOUR" opportunity to get to know the Candidates who are running in your Division and what they stand for.

Some areas for questions that you may consider are Land use bylaws, Zoning for RV's, Utility fees such as Solid Waste Utility. We will be posting some ideas for you to ponder over the next few days.

If you have any questions or concerns with respect to the Forums, please either ask us the question on our blog at www.lsaracares.blogspot.ca or feel free to send us an email to lsaracares@gmail.com We appreciate all the support .

Please share these posts so that we can reach as many voters as possible to attend these forums and show that we do care what happens in our County!
