LSARA Is Hosting Our Next Public Informational Meeting on May 27th in Darwell

Some of you may wonder what Lac Ste Anne & Communities Ratepayers Association has been up to. Some of you are maybe even wondering why you should join. Some of you have taken the time to maybe read our posts, the articles and attended a meeting. Some of you have put forward your $10 a person $20 per family to help us pay for the halls so we can keep you informed. To help pay for postage so we can continue to communicate with Council, Administration and the Municipal Government.

Some of you have been impacted directly by decisions that you have had no input in. Landfill fees, RV fees. Increased taxes due to improper assessments and land use categories. Land use bylaws to name a few. Even though the Municipal Government Act Section 153 clearly states that we all have a right to be represented as a whole, some of you have lost that right due to no representation in your Division. THEY, not YOU decided that THEY didn't want new councilors this term even though in both vacant divisions they would have had ample time to get up to speed and learn the ropes. Instead, council manipulated dates so there was NO way for a by-election to be mandated.

They know the rules.... they quote them to us all the time. Better yet, they know how to force the interpretation to suit their needs. Now, there is the potential that the boundaries, council was all so concerned about (this was given as a reason to not hold a by-election, changing boundaries) may not happen. Special permission had to be requested from the Minister as the change is too late. Too close to the October election.

LSARA is hosting our next meeting on May 27th at 11 am at the Darwell Seniors Centre. We are really excited to share with you all the things we have been working on. Watch our Facebook page Lac Ste Anne Ratepayers Association and our associated blog. Some of the items we are going to discuss will be posted as the week goes on.

We invite you to like, follow, see first and share our articles. LSARA is very much a group of volunteers that are working very hard to try to represent the people in our County. Please support us.
