WHAT DOES LSARA DO

LAC STE. ANNE AND COMMUNITIES
RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION
(A NOT-FOR-PROFIT SOCIETY)

Our Society was formed during the time when we were forced to do several petitions for the right to vote on the Administration Building. Due to bureaucratic inefficiencies and a lack of want by the CAO to work with and for the people, the petitions,( although later proven by our group to be sufficient), were stuck so long in the hands of Municipal Affairs, that the building was already partially constructed.

We have continued since 2016 as an organization to strive for:

L ines of Communication made better with County, especially support staff

S ustainability of County Practices (Asking for county to look to the future)

A ccountability (constantly asking the tough questions and publishing answers)

R esponsibility by County both fiscally and to the ratepayers as a whole

      A dvocating for Transparency

We have been successful in many areas in a very short amount of time:

  • Hosted numerous public information meetings and hosted forums during municipal elections
  • Improvements were made to the preparation and publishing of the County Meeting Agenda’s
  • Asked for and received more informative Council Meetings so audience understands what is going on
  • Asked for and received more informative Minutes of those meetings so that those that could not attend could have a better understanding of County operations and issues
  • Asked for and received more information readily available to the citizens through County Website
  • Requested Councillors publish updates on what is happening in their Divisions. We have now been seeing Reeve Reports on a regular basis.
  • Publish information articles through our Social Media Pages (Facebook and Blog) and email to the members allowing a platform for two-way communications or input.
  • Continue to tackle “Hot Topics” and current issues such as LUB, Borrowing, Budgets and Spending

MISSION STATEMENT:

THE ASSOCIATION WILL BE A POSITIVE AND CREDIBLE ADVOCATE OF LAC STE ANNE COUNTY COMMUNITIES AND WILL BY COORDINATED INPUT, OVERSEE THAT THE ELECTED COUNTY OFFICIALS ARE HELD TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PROVINCIAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS. IT WILL CONTINUOUSLY STRIVE TO WORK FOR THE BETTERMENT OF ALL RATEPAYERS
