LSARA MEETING ANOTHER GREAT TURNOUT!!!

LAC STE. ANNE COUNTY RATEPAYERS AGAIN SHOW

 "THEY DO CARE"

Approximately 93 LSAC Ratepayers attended LSARA's 6th meeting. We were very pleased to have 8 of the current 15 Candidates vying for your vote present at the meeting.

While we are extremely pleased to see that there are 15 community minded Ratepayers seeking election, it is important that no Division go unchallenged. Currently there is only one for Division 1. Please consider becoming a Councillor if you reside in Division 1 and have a sincere desire to work with the Ratepayers of LSAC.

LSARA has reached out to ALL current candidates ( incumbents and new challengers) listed on the County Website. As biographies are provided, LSARA will publish an update.

One of the focus topics of discussion was how LSARA was able to provide comparisons directly from previous Activity Reports. These comparisons clearly display the lack of Transparency from LSAC County Council and Administration to the Ratepayers.

These comparisons between the Reports of 2011-2012 and the LSAC 2016 Activity Report"clearly show that Transparency by LSAC has seriously eroded. We discussed what the changes were.

Here is the Report that our last Series of Posts "Fluff or Transparency" refereed to and utilized in our comparisons. When you review the Reports in this Activity Report and the 2016 Activity Report" it becomes evident that the changes are not "Transparent" nor are they "Helpful".

While it is appreciated that LSAC has advertised they will respond to the Ratepayers Requests in this publication and answer the many questions on the serious issues and topics that LSARA and the Ratepayers have brought forth, we can only hope that these "Questions and Answers" will be "Not Fluff". LSARA truly hopes that they are indeed open for discussion and will answer any additional "Questions" that may arise.

If this is they way LSAC prefers to Communicate rather than in a Public Forum, then so be it until a new council is appointed.

Once the 2017-2021 council is appointed, LSARA will once again "Request" that Council and Administration meet with the Ratepayers in a "Open and Transparent" atmosphere to address the "Ratepayers Concerns" on a regular basis as necessary!

It is time that LSAC follows the recommendations of AUMA/AAMDC and the "Citizen Engagement Toolkit" that they have provided to our Municipality, LSAC. After all "WE PAY" for all the Council and some of the Administration to attend the conferences every year!

There is some great information in this "Toolkit"  and when utilized may be a useful communication means. A process that LSAC desperately needs!! Why our County Manager (CAO) and Councillors have not utilized this toolkit is beyond us! What are they bringing back from all these conferences that they attend? Some of these Conferences are three day events!

Are their reports shared with the Ratepayers to indicate what the topics of discussion may have been? Is it necessary that all Council and Administration attend all the conferences that they do? Does it make economic sense that Seven Divisional Councillors and the County Manager attend? Is there clear benefit to each and every Councillor or is it just the 'popular' thing to do?

In the articles yet to be published, LSARA will provide more reports for your perusal. Some will be Reports that were created and presented by our Council and Administration that beget more questions than answers.
