Land Use Bylaw Proposed Amendments Summary

Land Use Bylaw Proposed Amendments Summary

Over a week has gone by since the Open House for the Proposed changes in our Land Use Bylaw. Lac Ste. Anne County has not published any information on their Web Site regarding the Summary of these changes. This was requested by LSARA prior to the first meeting that took place so we would have an opportunity to review and understand the proposed changes and share the information with the Ratepayers.

Many LSAC Residents and Ratepayers are totally confused as to what these changes are and how these proposed changes may affect them personally.

LSARA feels that this attempt to change our LUB has not been adequately researched by the County. This new proposal confuses the issue further by seemingly allowing the use of multiple RV’s throughout the County.

LSARA has reviewed and compiled the information that was handed out at the Open House. This was not and is not LSARA’s responsibility. This is something that the County should have done for the Ratepayers prior to the first Open House. We feel everyone has the right to know exactly what the Changes are that they are Proposing!

Here is the Link to the Information.

Why it is that this information is not on the LSAC Web Site is beyond us. This is an issue that has serious implications.

The issue was brought forward directly as a result of the County either unwilling or unable to enforce their own Bylaws. A bylaw cannot be utilized and enforced strictly when complaints are lodged and in the same realm, cannot be enforced just when they “feel like it”. Bylaws are created to set a level playing field for everyone. To ensure that all Ratepayers are treated the same way. So that prospective buyers understand that there are restrictions before they purchase their property. The next component is the enforcement of the bylaws.

Rather than deal with the issues they chose to open the "Can Of Worms". At a recent LSAC Council meeting Lloyd Giebelhaus commented that the County took a "Machine Gun approach to a Fly Swatter Problem". It now seems that they are taking a "Nuclear Approach" to this Issue that affects the LUB and the "Designated Use" of the Whole LSAC!!

Do you think that maybe, just maybe if we oppose 4 that they will relax it to less and say they listened to the people? Do you think that is the approach here? Remember, not that long ago, they were prepared to ask you, the Ratepayer and landowners for a $500 fee for that same RV. What changed? We will tell you what changed! A public outcry is what changed and right before an election!

We urge you to review the link that we have provided to inform yourself of what the current bylaw states and what the proposed changes are. When you have completed that component, please, fill out the form at the end with your concerns and comments and send them to the County.

Tell them LSARA sent you so they understand that the only reason this information is actually getting out to the Ratepayers is because WE PUT IT OUT THERE!

If you would kindly provide a copy to LSARA at lsaracares@gmail.com we can make sure that the information gathered and what comes from the County are one and the same.

  1. Thank you for summarizing. I didn't realize how wide spread this change was. So every single subdivision within the County will be allowed at least 4 RV's if your have a "habitable structure" on it and unlimited number of RV's for7 days every month. Even the high end estate subdivisions... this could have a huge impact on all residents in the County. Formal, regulated campgrounds could be a way of the past.
