Tax Time
Council and Administration told you that there is a zero percent increase in your taxes. That would not be the truth. If you compare last year to this year, you will see a slight increase in mill rates. What you may also see is a reduction in actual assessment.
You remember, they also 'took out' the landfill portion that you get a separate invoice for. So, take the mill rate, reduction potentially in assessment and your taxes are still increased.
Some folks have had their assessments rise rather than fall. Not sure how that is possible in this economy.
If you feel that your assessment has not been correctly calculated, you have the option of completing and submitting the tax appeal form to the Assessment department of the county. You can call or email Ryan Sweeney the Assessment and Taxation Manager (780)785-3411 or rsweeney@lsac.ca we have attached a link to the form for your convenience. Appeal Form
It's your time to have your say regarding your assessment.
The next few years, in our opinion, will see some significant tax increases. They voted no to an increase as it is an election year and still they were increased . Exercise your right and be sure to include the fee of $50.
