Lac Ste. Anne County administration presented council with a draft of the 2017 budget during the council meeting on Feb. 9.
The draft of the budget was given to councillors to review and offer feedback for in upcoming council meetings. The County's chief administrative officer, Mike Primeau, said it was a budget mindful of the provincial economy.
“We've gone through and we've found savings, we've found efficiencies, we've done whatever we can to get this to a budget that we're really confident with that we can still provide the level of service that you guys want and get through the year with what is provided,” Primeau said. “We've gone through hard to make sure that we understand where people are sitting and the economy. This budget reflects that."
Council will review the budget and discuss it further during their next council meeting on Feb. 23.
Lac Ste. Anne County Mayor Bill Hegy said he was appreciative of the effort administration put in to the draft budget.
“I offer a vote of appreciation to administration,” Hegy said. “Council may request to keep it to no (tax) increase. Hopefully we can do that.”
