Lac Ste. Anne and Communities Ratepayers Association Continues to Support the Residents of LSAC

As we told you in an article a few weeks ago, LSARA continues to be actively interacting with Council and Administration regarding items we feel have the ability to impact us all.  We go well beyond what you SEE in our posts on Facebook and on our Blog.  An interesting poll for us would be to understand from you, our readers, how much time you think it takes us to research, write and edit the articles we present to you.

The posts are also only one component of what we do.  We hold public meetings, executive meetings. Meetings with other organizations such as Municipal Government. Communicate with other Ratepayers associations to ensure we are all on the same page.

Even though other counties may have different issues, many of them arise for the same reasons. No one is listening or items that should trigger debate and a vote are decided before we know about them or the process is circumvented to prevent us from having our say. It takes time to obtain information by way of FOIP access.

To support the 2017 October Municipal Election, LSARA held two very well attended public forums.  We hosted them because we didn’t want anyone to vote without having had an opportunity to hear all the candidates.

The Onoway forum, all the candidates including everyone but one incumbent was present. In the Darwell forum two of the incumbents chose to not participate.  LSAC people voted in record numbers to vote in what would become a council with four new councillors.  Over half of Council.  Now keep in mind two of these were to fill vacant seats that our previous council chose not to fill with a bi election.

Accountability remains the number #1 item on our agenda.  We intend to continue to move forward with the newly elected council and hold them to a higher standard than we held the last one.  We remember their campaign promises wherein they told us they would be "transparent, fiscally responsible, openly communicative".

LSARA has continued to act in the best interest of all the Ratepayers of Lac Ste Anne County. We have told you that we will hold them to their campaign promises.  There may be a day where we have to make the “call to action” in order to do that.

That will be where we need all of our members to come to a meeting to discuss a serious issue we see looming or before us.  This will be one of the times where how many members we have will be critical. We need your membership.

Remember that LSARA is non-profit Ratepayers Association formed by and run by Ratepayers just like you.  We can only remain viable with your support.

Our last executive meeting was held February 6th.  At that meeting we made some important decisions on where we will focus our efforts.  We also determined that we will not charge a membership fee for 2018.  Of course Taxable Donations are Always Welcome!

FREE TO JOIN! So bring your friends, families and neighbors to our February 20th meeting 7 PM Gunn Hall.

Additionally, LSARA is prepared to make application for funding grants to support our organization. We will never share our membership list without permission of the membership. Rest assured there can be no repercussions from anywhere because you choose to support your own Ratepayers Association.

LSARA is currently seeking Directors and members at large that would be willing to actively contribute with research, membership, create articles for the blog and newspapers, review minutes, attend council meetings to name a few.
